Swartbergsvlei 4x4

Swartbergsvlei 4x4 is situated on the West Coast Road (R27), 12km from Yzerfontein crossing, direction Langebaan.

There are existing loops on the farm but without any markings. Very sandy in most places, but there is also ‘n nice “koppie” with small “jumps/ramps”.

There are also braai facilities, self-catering accommodation, 4x4 track for bakkies and a bar (only open on requests) available on the farm.

De Hoop Dirt Track

De Hoop Dirt Track

Details:
De Hoop Dirt Track, just outside Paarl. The track is based inside a quarry and will later be expanded out into the bush. There will be a kiddies loop, a medium and also a challenging loop for the more experienced riders. There are no trees in the quarry, so bring your own umbrellas and gazebo's. Bikes and quads are welcome.

Cost:
R80 per rider, if you apply for membership it is R50.

Directions:
Take the Jan Van Riebeek Road (R301) exit off the N1 towards Wellington. Continue over the traffic circle. Turn right into Bo-Dal-Josafat Street. The entrance to the quarry is the third turning on your right, it is the first gravel road.

Gordons Bay Track

Gordons Bay Track

Details:
The track consists of a kiddies MX track (just extended), an Enduro track (8-11km long) and the main MX track. There are rules and regulations that the people entering the track must follow. It is a friendly place for families and a safe fun place to spend your day. There are braai and toilet facilities and a small lappa.

Cost:
The fees are: R70 per larger cc bike (85cc and lager) and R40 per smaller (kiddies-65cc and below) bikes per day. Memberships are available and this reduces the riding fees.

Directions:
From N2 from Somerset west towards Grabou
Turn Right into broadlands and 1st road(dirt) past Strand foam will take you into main gate of track.

From Beach road strand to Gordon's Bay
Turn left into Broadlands road. Through robot and stop street.Turn Right opposite school and before Strand foam.

Diamand Track

To ride at Diamand, just send Takbok an email with the number of riders, names and when you want to ride to diamandenduro@gmail.com so that he has some control over who is riding and when. For more info call Shaun 082 2907786.

Directions:
Take the Klapmuts, Wellinton turnoff and go left at the stop. Follow the road and you will see the Paarl diamond on the right. If you go past Durbenville turnoff, STOP turn and go back. It’s the 2de farm before the turn off to Durbanville.

Atlantis

Woops ,sand dunes, woops, dodge the odd 4x4 and then some more sand and a few more woops.

Cost:
You need to have a permit to ride. Daily permits only are available from Atlantis municipality at a cost of R60. Annual and daily permits are available from 8th floor, 38 Whale Street, weekdays from 08h00 to 12h30 and 13h30 to 15h30 at a cost of R600 per year.

Dirt & Dust Track

Details:
Dirt & Dust is described as an extreme playground. There is a small flattish MX track and 6km fast, hard pack enduro loop. There is a 4x4 area, quad track and a drag strip.

Cost:
Last time I was there is was R70 per person per day.

Directions:
Take Wellington (Durbanville main road) Road towards Klipheuwel / Fisantekraal. Turn right on the R312 / Paarl. Past the bridge, Dirt & Dust is on the left hand side.

Rietvlei farm just off the N2 highway past the Total/Engen Garages coming into Mossel Bay from Cape Town side.

Approximately 35kms with a bit of everything, nothing too hectic. There is also plenty to ride off the farm & surrounds.
